Our Methodology
Every watch that comes to Geartha starts with an inspection before any pricing is discussed. What we find is written out and handed to the owner. Work begins only when scope is agreed and noted.
Depending on the service, jobs may run in stages — particularly case refinishing, where checkpoints let the owner review condition before the next phase begins. Movement cleaning is typically a single-pass job with a defined scope that doesn't change mid-process unless something unexpected is found, in which case we stop and discuss.
Parts sourcing, when needed, is discussed before ordering. The replaced components are kept for the owner to inspect on collection.
Intake & Inspection
Piece logged in with reference number. Inspection carried out. Findings written out and given to owner.
Scope Agreement
Owner reviews findings, agrees to scope in writing. Price confirmed. Timeline estimated and stated.
Work Carried Out
Service performed to agreed scope. Any unexpected finding triggers a pause and owner notification before continuing.
Final Check & Handover
Quality check performed. Documentation prepared. Watch returned with service record and, for movement work, the timing report.

Water-Resistance Check & Reseal

Inspection and replacement of gaskets with pressure testing, so a watch is ready for everyday wear near water again. A sensible job for divers' watches and daily pieces before a trip. Findings are shared plainly — only agreed work is carried out.

Movement Cleaning & Regulation

A thorough cleaning and re-oiling of the movement followed by regulation on the timing machine to settle daily accuracy. Suited to watches that have grown erratic with time and use. The return includes a simple rate report for reference.

Case Refinishing & Rebuild

Structural attention to a worn case — dent removal where feasible, refinishing, and reassembly with fresh seals and crystal. Suited to owners who want a rugged piece looking and sealing well again. Handled as a staged job with clear checkpoints.
