About Geartha
Geartha opened in Khon Kaen after years of repair work done quietly for collectors and daily wearers in the region. The name is a nod to the old word for a craftsperson who worked in mechanisms — which is still the most honest description of what happens at the bench here.
The workshop started with a single watchmaker, a timing machine, and a pressing need in the city for repair work that was done plainly and without drama. Over time the space and tooling grew, but the approach stayed the same: look at the piece, describe what you find, agree what to do, then do it.
Khon Kaen has a collector community and a steady flow of working professionals who rely on their watches. Geartha sits at the intersection — handling everything from a straightforward water-resistance reseal before a diving trip to a full case rebuild on a piece that's been through decades of hard use.

At the Bench
Sombat Nantawat
Lead Watchmaker
Responsible for movement cleaning, regulation, and all diagnostic work. Trained in mechanical horology with a focus on Swiss and Japanese calibres.
Patcharee Lomchit
Case & Finishing Technician
Handles dent removal, surface refinishing, crystal fitting, and reassembly with fresh seals. Background in precision metalwork and case restoration.
Anan Thongchai
Water-Resistance Specialist
Conducts pressure testing and gasket inspections across all incoming pieces. Manages intake documentation and communicates findings to owners.
How We Work
Workshop Standards
Inspection-First Process
No watch is quoted or worked on without a documented inspection first. Findings go to the owner in writing before anything else moves forward.
Pressure Testing On-Site
Water-resistance checks are done with calibrated pressure testing equipment here in the workshop — not sent out to a third party.
Timing Machine Regulation
Every movement service ends with regulation on the timing machine and a rate report included with the returned piece. Numbers over opinion.
Parts Accountability
Replaced gaskets, crystals, and worn parts are kept until collection. Owners can inspect what came out and confirm what went in.
Secure Custody
Every piece is logged in with a reference number at intake. Receipt issued at drop-off. Watch stays on-site throughout the job.
Owner Communication
Staged jobs include clear update checkpoints. If anything changes from the original scope, the owner is contacted before work continues.

The watchmaking trade has a particular relationship with time — not just the kind a movement measures, but the kind that accumulates in a piece over decades of wear. A watch that has been on someone's wrist for fifteen years carries more than a mechanism. The Geartha workshop treats that seriously.
Our work covers the practical spectrum: water-resistance resealing for divers' pieces and everyday watches heading on a trip; movement cleaning and regulation for pieces that have grown sluggish or erratic; and full case refinishing and rebuilds for watches that need structural and cosmetic attention alongside mechanical care. Each of these is described plainly, with findings shared before any work is agreed.

The tools at Geartha include on-site pressure testing, ultrasonic cleaning, and regulation equipment. No diagnostic step is outsourced. Parts decisions are discussed with the owner before ordering. The rate report that comes back with a serviced movement is not a formality — it's the primary evidence that the work was done.
